Medical cannabis probably saved our lives. We created this site to
help other in the same position. Our group includes an Afghanistan
veteran with PTSD, two cancer survivors, and someone living with HIV.
The US federal government and many US states classify cannabis in the same category as highly addictive, harmful drugs like heroin and methamphetamine. Meanwhile “legitimate”, legal pharmaceutical companies pay senators and congressmen to look the other way while they flood the country with legal, highly addictive prescription opiates, killing tens of thousands of Americans annually. The American public broadly supports the legal use of cannabis for medical and recreational use.
In this context, it’s clear that laws restricting the use of medically helpful, low harm potential substances are unjust. A government that defends morally reprehensible behavior by pharmaceutical companies and ignores the will of the voters isn’t a democracy. Political donations by rich corporate interest have corrupted our democratic institutions.
There is a long history in western democracies of civil disobedience to protest unjust laws. In cases of medical necessity, unjust laws are meant to be broken.
